Enjoying plein air painting in my home in Colorado.

“My passion for art began when I was a child and I have studied and worked as an artist in both the fine and commercial arts. I learned book arts at the Writer’s Center and Pyramid Atlantic in the Washington, DC area in workshops by Kevin Osborn and Hedi Kyle. I studied classical drawing with Robert Liberace; watercolor painting with Gwendolyn C. Bragg and Carolyn Grosse Gawarecki and in workshops with Stephen Quiller, Cheng-Khee Chee, and Carl Schmalz; and plein air oil painting with Chris Groves. My limited edition artists’ books were exhibited both nationally and internationally and have been collected by major museums.”

In 2022, Joan published a book of her paintings titled PAINTING COLORADO: A Watercolor Journal. For more information about the book and to view sample pages, go to Publications.
